The Native Hawaiian Innovation Center is a 501(c)(3) organization that develops strategies and programs to provide easy access to free and affordable educational and innovative resources for students and the U.S. Department of Defense STEM Programs worldwide.
Purpose: Inspire, Encourage, and Empower
- To inspire inventors like Henry Ford, who was known for his hands-on approach to innovation, Ford started the Ford Motor Company after finishing the 8th grade in a one-room schoolhouse and working as an intern at an engineering plant.
- To encourage creative thinking and generate ideas on a global scale, potentially leading to better futures.
- To empower and support students eager to tackle critical national defense technological challenges while gaining a deeper understanding of pressing issues.
Future Inventors Program
- The Future Inventors Program (FIP) introduces students from diverse backgrounds to the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
- Through their coursework, students gain knowledge in physics, aerodynamics, nanotechnology, robotics, navigation, and mapping.
- By utilizing resources and working with trained experts, students can satisfy their curiosity, tackle challenges, and develop solutions.
- The program aims to motivate inventors of dual-purpose technologies, turning their ideas into reality and empowering them to become confident inventors.
Goals
- Provide an FIP curriculum that links elementary, middle, and high school programs, enabling talented students to progress quickly to the next level based on their skills, capabilities, and performance.
- The United States needs individuals and businesses to bridge technology gaps, which the NHI Center will tackle through its programs.
- There is a need for more programs to extend STEM, with a path to internships, continuing education, and career opportunities.
